eVocation Event

This is for anyone interested in creating design around the movable events of 2009-2010  for 100-150 people to be held in metropolitain areas and targetted at equipping, connecting, and mobilizing the "sleeping geniuses" found in college ministries as well as in lay capacities at churches. As of the February 2009 meeting Troybronsink is point on this project, but he'd be a fool to think it is being concieved and exicuted by him alone.

Bi-line

Our voice is found when we discover our calling.  And as the world continues to transform we find our place by jumping into God’s dreams through: contemplation, play, beauty, justice, and friendship. So, you’re in play!  Evoke something beautiful! You’re life, your art, your worship are all part of this conversation.  Come build collaborative generative friendships with other creatives, contemplatives, and activists in the local Philadelphia Area.

PRESBYMERGENT is a conversation among loyal radical Presbyterians about the story of God unfolding in both our wider world and local faith communities, as well as the many Reformed, Presbyterian, and Emerging practices that connect them.  We worship, learn, pray, and play together.  Be a part of re-forming conversation!

We are interested in holding similar events in other metropolitan areas. For more details visit presbymergent.org or to suggest a location for a future eVocation event contact troy@neighborsabbey.org

Overview and Propsed Budget

Here is what else I'm proposing, but then I need some push back as well as fleshing out of this rough-rough draft.  If someone want to throw it on a wiki for easier tracking, be my guest.  I just wanted to get something to you all today.

  1. I think a Friday (1pm-7pm) Saturday (10am-7pm) event is doable (Sundays are hard for all of us I am afraid).
  2. We need a target of 150 paid registrants to make it worthwhile:
  • 80 College kids paying say, $25= $2000
  • 50 lay adults paying $40=  $2000
  • 20 scholarships
  1. $3,000 could cover travel and meals for about 5 folks I think.  We would try to set up free housing.
  2. $1000 would go to conference meals: (friday drinks and snacks, Saturday snacks and lunch for 160 people)
  3. $2,000 in Advertising costs, and printed materials, and web site for follow up (blogs, and youtube videos of projects) sponsored by OTW and Presbygrow
  4. here’s a schdule I’m throwing out there, play with is some. It includes time for creativity, small group conversation, worship songs and rituals, and teaching.
  5. Tony Sundermier (pastor at WEstminster) and John Frankie have begun to get us in touch with are College Ministers, but we need to galvanize these contacts soon and get their direct involvement.  We should invite the students to contribute to the wiki and the conference calls.
